Join us on Wednesday, May 7th at 11AM for a historical tour of the fascinating Wood County Museum and its expansive 51-acre grounds. Originally constructed as the Wood County Infirmary, or “County Home,” this historic site offers a unique glimpse into local history and social welfare of the past.
Located on the National Register of Historic Places, this property is of significance because it is one of the last county poorhouse sites in Ohio where you can still see most of the original structures. In addition to the poorhouse, you’ll find the Pestilence House, Ice House, Lunatic Asylum and several other structures, as well as a nature trail, herb garden and the Pauper Cemetery.
Explore the rich local history within the museum itself, then venture outdoors to discover a functioning oil derrick, peaceful nature trails, and beautiful herb gardens.
This complimentary tour offers a perfect opportunity to connect with the past while enjoying the natural beauty of this historical treasure.
